Behind The Brand

The creative energy behind the boutique is our designer Mrunal Khimji, who studied Jewellery Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. She later worked at Rosy Blue and Intergold, but eventually found her calling in personalised couture garments that tell a tale. Her eponymous atelier, Mrunal’s Boutique, has been successfully running since 2007 in Muscat, Oman.

Today, her work marries heritage handloom and handcrafted techniques from India and completes the trinity with a wide variety of Western ensembles that merge the cultures seamlessly. A champion of India’s cottage and handloom industries, she collaborates with small-scale artisans and designers – young and veteran alike – to celebrate their craft.

Mrunal has created a culture that focuses on personalised service to make every client feel special and unique. The bespoke brand aims to create couture which is affordable and accessible in Oman and all around the world.

Other Projects

She also devotes her time in consulting with Madhurya Creations to further her mission to support handloomers and their craft. Madhurya Creations specializes in Uppadha, Kanjivaram, Paithani, Jamdaani, Maheshwari, Chanderi, Mangalgiri and Kota to name a few.

Her latest venture in collaboration with Rishabh Manocha — Lehzaa — was born with the view to re-envision clothing staples for women across a multitude of body types. Lehzaa’s ensembles focus majorly on natural fibers, with garments cut in a trapeze silhouette and finished to the highest quality, making the brand the go-to for luxury essentials.

She is also part of Rumi Design Studio — is an accessory line with Rushali Jaising. The brand offers sustainable, natural and vegan designer footwear, uniting their core values of ethical sourcing, natural fabrications and conscious making.

In a world of fashion architects, decorators and curators, Mrunal is the bridge between the latter two. Ultimately, her aim is not just to dress women to impress but also to build an outfit that crosses eras, merges cultures and blurs borders.
